Harry Proctor was an English journalist of human-interest stories. He specialised in salacious scoops for the Sunday Pictorial. “Tell Harry Proctor about it” became a byword for sensational stories that made the front pages. Readers keen to see their story in print wrote to him in their thousands. Towards the end of his short life, Proctor did however become disillusioned with this type of journalism.
